Check IP geolocation, ISP, purity score and blacklist status
IP lookup is the process of retrieving geolocation, network ownership (ISP/data center), and security reputation information from an IP address. Every internet-connected device has an IP address as its network identifier — querying it reveals detailed information for security auditing and troubleshooting.
| Type | Scope | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Public IP | Globally unique | Assigned by ISP, accessible from the internet |
| Private IP | Local network | 10.x.x.x, 172.16-31.x.x, 192.168.x.x |
| Loopback | Local machine | 127.0.0.1 / ::1 |
| Indicator | Meaning | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Proxy/VPN | IP detected as a proxy or VPN exit node | May trigger CAPTCHAs or access restrictions |
| Hosting/DC | IP belongs to a data center, not residential | Bot detection, registration limits |
| Blacklist | IP has been flagged for spam or malicious activity | Emails rejected, access blocked |
IP geolocation relies on databases with limited accuracy (typically city-level). If you're using a VPN, proxy, or corporate gateway, the displayed location reflects the exit node, not your physical location. Mobile network IP geolocation tends to have even larger margins of error.
Check three key indicators: blacklist status (affects email delivery), proxy/VPN detection (affects website access), and Hosting/DC classification (affects registration and anti-bot measures). If all three show negative, your IP has good reputation.
Private IPs start with 10., 172.16-31., or 192.168. and are only visible within a local network. If this tool detects a public IP, that's the real address used for your external communications. Private IPs cannot be geolocated by external tools.
